Thanks Max! Loved one flying home from Europe Saturday. I heard the word nor'easter on the news last night, turned the tv off and studiously ignored any mention of weather. Denial can be a beautiful thing. Now I know that I was right not to get anxious.
Nor'easter? Wow. The NWS seems to only be predicting a half-inch or so of rain between Friday night and Saturday morning...
It will technically be a nor'easter -- the designation has to do with the type of storm, not the intensity. I don't expect any issues, but since some of the weather media has referred to it (not inaccurately but unhelpfully nonetheless) as a nor'easter, I started a panic-prevention thread.
What we will see looks more and more like just a rainy day.

Models are showing a moderate Nor'easter Friday - Saturday that looks like all rain, not a winter storm at all.
This is distinct from the small, uncertain possible 1 - 3" of snow Sunday - Monday.
The nor'easter is moving around a lot from run to run right now, so it is hard to say how much rain we will see, but I am fairly certain it will be all rain.
None of this speaks of course to Tropical Storm Alex, the first tropical storm of the 2016 season, and the first January storm since I think 1978. Alex will be heading up the middle of the Atlantic to threaten the southern tip of Greenland, so not a worry for us. But still, it's January. Sheez.
I will update on the nor'easter if anything changes, but for now, rain, some wind. Take in those patio umbrellas and such. Don't plan any picnics.
