NJT Transit Buses to NY Port Authority?? archived

So, NJ transit is ramping up some bus service, but from what I can tell none of the service is from MSO to Port Authority. http://www.njtransit.com/sa/sa_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=CustomerNoticeTo&NoticeId=2299

Am I reading this correctly?
If the 107 is running, that goes through both maplewood and south orange. Looks like that one is running I think ??

Nope, that line isn't on the list of routes that are running.....and the one I was hoping to grab.

107 is in there:

The following routes will all operate over the entire route, with no detours and no truncations:

Nos. 1, 5, 6, 11, 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, 37, 39, 41, 48, 52, 62, 63, 64, 70, 71, 78, 80, 81, 82, 84, 86, 94, 99, 107, 108, 111, 113, 122, 124, 125, 127, 129, 136, 144, 145, 151, 154, 155, 156, 157, 159, 160, 161, 162, 164, 175, 181, 182, 186, 190, 193, 198, 250, 258, 320, 321, 324, 704, 712, 871, 872, 873, 875 and 880.

Ugh, I can't read. Thanks.

No prob. Good luck getting in tomorrow.

Just checking njtransit.com under rout,e 107, it states only buses in burlington, glouster and camden counties are running as of one hour ago. I want to believe kriss is correct but where are you getting your info.

I just got a text from NJT and it seems that the express buses are running from SO Station.

Yeah, I normally take that bus and it wasn't on the list I read.

You're right! http://www.njtransit.com/sa/sa_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=CustomerNoticeTo&NoticeId=2299

Correction: It is on the list. Thanks for the additional info annemarie.

Actually, it is. I didn't see it the first time either. Look right under the bold heading. It's not part of the detour list.

Now, whether it will be possible to get on the bus is another question.

The express bus from SO to NYC is the 107x not the 107. Can anyone confirm that the 107x is in fact running?

OHhhhhhhhhh.....didn't realize there is a difference.

There may not be - I am totally new to the bus thing so I am just putting up what I am reading - I could be way off base here.

Ah, just checked the schedule. The 107X runs the same route but just skips some stops after SO.

Yeah - just noticing that. However the bus ride is seems to be about 15 minutes longer on the NJT versus the Community coach, and is much less often as well. But we would have to factor in the drive to West Orange and back for our commute as well.

Ugh what to do, what to do.

The 107 on their bus schedule route is the same thing. The just indicate with the X that it is an express..

If you choose the Bus time table in the second block the 107 is marked as the express train from South Orange to NY. I am on it.

Thanks mbaldwin...you just saved me from having to get up to WO and back tomorrow.

I know what I'm doing and saving on my gas… NJT! The fare is cheaper plus if you have a monthly train ticket, they will cross honor your pass.

Will the same pass work for Train and Bus? It will save gas, but the Community coach runs so much more often.

Also - the PDF says the bus stop is at Sloan and 2nd, but the trip planner on njtransit.com says it is Valley and 1st. Where do I go to get this bus?

For us bus newbies... Where is this station? Is it right below the S Orage train station? Also, can I use my monthly NJ Transit rail pass on this bus? Many thx!

@yellowcat & scottgreenstone, they will cross honor your train pass till Friday PM per the Govenrnor's order. You can catch the bus right on Sloan Street across from the bank parking lot (between 2nd & third St.. Just look for the line of people.

Folks, let's not get that excited. I'm guessing there will be mobs of people trying to get on each bus. I'm gonna give a bus or two a try, but if there's no room I'm going to work from home again.

^^^^^That;s my concern. At the Arena - if you miss a bus, there is one 5 or 10 minutes later.

Your monthly train pass will always work on the bus. I have used it for years. The 107x bypasses the airport. The 107 stops at all the terminals. I try only to take the express.

Is there a bus stop in Maplewood?

How bad do you think driving will be in the later morning/early afternoon?

Yes, and if NJT is smart enough they'll have extra buses, but I'm not holding my breath.
