And a big, big thanks to Jerry Ryan for his many years of service to Maplewood. Let's hope that he stays deeply involved in helping to move this community forward.
Regardless of how anyone voted in this election, Jerry Ryan deserves great respect from all.

Perhaps the Post Jerry Ryan Building... I personally think Jerry has done a great job over the years and am sad to see him go.

The Township Committee has lost a wise leader and gained two capable members who are dedicated to our community. Maplewood's government remains in good hands.

Politically, this election proves the maxim that if you allow your opponent to define you and your record, the chances are good that you will lose.

The election results show that the sentiments of the MOL attack dogs do not necessarily reflect the sentiments of the community. This is good.

The conclusion I draw is that the town wants new blood on the TC. But with nearly identical votes for essentially a pro-development and anti-development candidate it seems the township may still be deeply divided on those issues. I'm not sure what effect that will have on swaying the votes of the rest of the TC. Time will tell. I just hope all the angry people can start to act a little nicer and respectful to each other now.
