Need to Store Luggage for a Few Hours near the British Museum. Any Suggestions archived

Jul 10, 2014 at 9:00am
We are staying near the British Museum and cannot check in until 3:00. We would like to store our bags some place for a few hours (No, we cannot leave them at the flat we are renting).

Thanks for any ideas.
Left luggage at Euston Station

The main cloakroom is located to the left of the Main entrance and large luggage can be left at the Montague Place entrance cloakroom, £1 per item.

Check with your hotel -- many will store luggage for arriving guests until their rooms are ready.

This is what we did and it seemed to be a very common thing. They were totally prepared for lots of luggage from early arrivals.

I think the OP is renting a flat and for whatever reason they were told "no."

I don't know if this will help: http://www.visitlondon.com/traveller-information/essential-information/baggage-left-luggage

Thanks all; I think we will be trying to use one of the left luggage facilities although so far I have been unable to make contact with them. I guess we will just be making our way to the one closest to our flat when we arrive. And you're correct Apple: We are renting a flat not going to a hotel and the previous renters will not have checked out yet when our flight comes in. That's the issue. Thanks again. Many good tips on MOL helped me to plan this trip!

@cubby there's no need to contact the left luggage facilities at the nearby major train stations (euston, st pancras, kings cross) in advance. You just show up, pay and leave your luggage there.

The British museum cloakroom is much cheaper though and would be my first choice (not that I've ever used it). The British museum would also be a much nicer first stop in London proper than the train stations. Sipping a coffee in the gorgeous enclosed courtyard - lovely! Though both st pancras and kings cross are beautifully refurbished and have great food/coffee options (and if you fancy a nice cocktail check out the st pancras hotel bar).
