Need Gluten Free Restaurant Recommendations for Lunch and Dinner-Now looking for NYC suggestions!

We have guests visiting who have a son with celiac disease.  Looking for recommendations for lunch and dinner options.  Anything from Morristown to South Orange.

We often end up at Legal Seafoods when my celiac sister visits town.  I've read that Melting Pot is also very good with celiac, but haven't tried it (would call first).  I think there is a thread on this every year or so.

Here is the most recent detailed thread I could find in a quick check

I was driving through Millburn and noticed a new cafe that I am pretty sure said it was gluten free. Right on Millburn Ave. Looked like it was busy. Don't know name of it.

(haven't tried it, but looks like a lunch option)

also, Enzzos across the street from Squirrel and the Bee. The owners wife is celiac so they have GF pastas and seem knowledgable about gluten issues.

The problem with the Squirrel and the Bee is that almost everything there is nut-based. Nut allergies are not uncommon so...

The Squirrel and the Bee is grain-free so that's why a lot of their stuff is nut-based.  They don't use any grains including rice.  I'ts a good breakfast or lunch option.

My daughter has celiac and we have found that almost all of the restaurants in this area are very helpful with gluten free. Boccone South is great and even has GF french fries which are unusual, Coda has many options, Toro Loco (like most Mexican) is filled with choices. Anna's in Summit has a wonderful GF menu. We went to Melting Pot once and I wouldn't recommend that. Wild Ginger also has GF options.

Also, for lunch, Toast in Montclair is fantastic for GF and everyone else too.

Coda is very accommodating. Toro Loco is easy since many things are corn-based anyway. For pizza, my GF sister tells me Trattoria is the best choice for an extreme sensitivity/celiac.

Just curious - Why are gluten-free French fries unusual?  Do they coat the potatoes with flour?

fries are usually fried in a deep fryer in which gluten containing items are also fried, contaminating them enough to be unsafe for celiacs

Thanks everyone. Also want to add The Pancake House in Morristown. Great GF pancakes! I think we will be trying Boccone South this evening. Sad to see that Anna's closed

Oh, that's good to know! I believe Parkwood has some good GF breakfast options too.

Okay now any suggestions for GF in NYC?

Haven't been, but I've heard that Otto Enoteca has gluten free options.

Check out other options at nobread.

From a GF friend who spent last summer with me while going into the city regularly:

Erin McKenna's bakery -  https://www.erinmckennasbakery.com/

Also, she suggests referring to https://www.allergyeats.com/ (or the associated app)

Senza Gluten in the West Village.

Also Lilli and Loo for great GF Chinese. It's in the 60s on the East Side. New York has tons of great options.

There is an app..."find me GF" that shows restaurants in any area you select by entering zip codes,  with ratings and other info.   Excellent reference.
