Natale's Bakery, summit archived

Anyone try it? Its at the bottom of Broad Street
It is excellent!! Terrific cakes and also Italian pastries as well as usuall bakery stuff.................

Oh, their products are divine!!

I drive by there frequently and keep thinking I should stop by. So glad MsSumida asked!

They have this Philly cheese pound cake that is RIDICULOUS! Mouth-gasm!

When I was a young'un, my grandparents lived in Summit. Sunday dinner was preceded by my grandfather taking me in his 49 Ford to Natale's for a loaf of Italian. Then he would go back home, take out the hand cranked spaghetti machine and make Sunday dinner.

I still go to Natale's two or three times per week but mostly for the coffee (gotta cut down on calories).

Now, down to basics.

Marble Cookie
Poor Man's pies
Pastries
Eclairs
....................................These are my favorites. Edited to add Crumb Buns

And the Italian bread still can't be beat.

Their crumb buns are the best

I bought my neighbor a lemon meringue pie there and he said that it was fabulous.

Their sugar free blueberry pie is really delicious, too, for those who need that option.

Also, their prices are reasonable.

Only bakery my family goes to. Everything's excellent and folks there are really nice.

I agree with everyone how wonderful it is..and not because it is the only bakery left in the area...

It is great---but if you want Italian pastries---especially the Italian cookies--- I don't think you can beat Bovella's in Westfield.

actually Calli- I would put Gencarelli's in Newark up to Bovella's-maybe we should have a taste off....

You're on ,bgs--next weekend, my place!

Sounds like you should definitely make a stop and check it out....i've had birthday cake from there and it was delicious! Jerseyjack, I love memories like that oh oh

Corey oh oh

will report back when I get some brad from there. I will force my self to try different types, some pastries and maybe a cake or 2. Mind you, I am only doing that because the MOL board needs to know the the truth of the quality.
:rolling::rolling::rolling:

The best. Try the Philly Fluff. Or anything else. Always great.

So glad to hear of it. I have yet to find a bakery locally that I am in love with.
BGS and Calli, can I be a judge?

OWIE LAURA! Cookies won't be painful!

We can do this but not next weekend...I will be celebrating 31 years with Mr. BGS-how about the weekend after that? What day and time??????????? -what is your favorite Italian pastry Calli?

well - you could wear pasties while judging!

Bovella's is great...Natale's is divine...but if you want a shorter trip try DiPaolo & Son's in Union (just up Stuyvesant from the Stop & Shop, next to Burnet BBQ).

It's a tiny shop, but their cookies, iced cakes, and bread are delicious. Bovella's has better fruit-filled cakes, and Natale's has better crumb buns and canollis, but DiPaolo's does in a pinch.

njguy... shhhhhhhhhh!!!! DiPaolo's has been our secret Italian bread source for a while.. now everyone will go there!

Calli - Bovella's is yummy... love their pignoli cookies

Laura - there IS no bakery that measures up to your home-baked wonders!

I love DiPaolo's. Their doughnuts and crumbcake are perhaps the best around. Well, Calandra's doughnuts rock but I pass there on my way to Stop & Shop.

Now I want crumbcake!

Oops! Forget what I said. Nothing to see here! Move along! :shamed:

It must be quite good to cause soorlady, normally a very generous, sharing person, to act like this!

This is like gazing into carb heaven!:wall:

Very timely thread! I just realized last week that I pass by Natale's on the way to visit my brother or take the kids to swim class at least a couple of times/week, so i expect to be making many stops there this winter. Are certain times better to go than others? (E.g., is there a big morning rush between certain hours, or is it down to slim pickings after a certain point?)
