Music on Sirius

Have a question about music on Sirius.  I'm not a regular music listener, mostly sports, some news, but recently tried some music, specifically The Bridge.  I know that I have a serious hearing issue, I wear aids and they help, but still struggle.  Having said that, in trying to listen to the music, it almost seems unrecognizable or is it just my hearing.  They were playing many songs that I listened to years ago, The Eagles, Poco, Dan Fogelberg, but practically none of them sounded like I remember.

Is it me, or have they over 'digitized' or whatever.  Just curious.

I have XM/Sirius in my car and I sometimes listen to that station and other stations playing similar music. I'm no connoisseur, but all sounds fine to me. How are your speakers? Is it possible they need replacement? Or does your stereo have a setting that optimizes sound for voices instead of music?

It's a basically new lease, only about 8 months old, so don't think its the car.  Either the station or me.  The reason I question is that if I listen to the same song on my phone, which is downloaded from my computer, it sounds like I remember it, but on the radio, not.

Thx for your input

sirius sometimes plays really low quality mp3s.  you can tell because they sound muffled and warbly.

I don't know if it's this or some sort of compression that happens when the signal isn't what it should be, but I've A/B'd Sirius vs a recording I own over the same speakers and there is a pretty big drop off in quality at times for Sirius. The dynamics seem to go away.

I just dropped SiriusXM for plain ole lousy repetitive music selections and boring talk radio.  I wear hearing aids and also had issues with the quality of sound and found myself raising the volume to insane levels.

As a side note, SiriusXM is doing a free trial up to Memorial Day, so check it out if you have the equipment.
