Monks and sand painting

My wife heard that some Monks are scheduled to do a sand painting in Maplewood soon and wanted me to track down some information.

First, I start no rumor.

Does anyone know if this is true, and where can I read details about it, IF it is true?

Thanx, Da

True. The Woodland. Beginning in early August.

The same group of Tibetan monks did a sand painting at the Newark Museum. It was magnificent.

The Maplewood Township Committee and Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs is excited to announce the Maplewood Mandala Project. Beginning Monday, August 10 through Saturday, August 15, 2015, Buddhist monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in Tibet will be in residence in Maplewood, NJ to create a magnificent work of sand art in the Great Hall at The Woodland, located at 60 Woodland Road in Maplewood NJ.

Oh, how I would love to see that. What an incredible art form.

Thanx, on the personal calendar now.

See it before it gets destroyed as intended (if not before by a toddler being a toddler):

That business of destroying it just kills me. I know the point is the ephemeral nature of all things, but I just hate seeing such beauty wrecked.

Peggy: Is it really too far for you to come down and see the work in progress?

Five-hour drive, give or take, and I don't drive on highways myself. Also, we have SO much going on up here, with one house to put up for sale and another still to clean up to put on the market, I don't think we are going anywhere (other than Long Island to clean my Mom's house) until we are done with all that. But I'll keep it in mind for August, in case Mr. PeggyC is willing.
