Modern Day Lilies

We are all familiar with the orange Hemerocallis fulva along the roads (not, it is NOT a 'tiger lily'), which is one of the species used to breed the modern day lilies.

The little warm yellow Hem Stella D'Oro is also well known.

However, there is an entirely different world of modern reblooming hybrids.  A few years ago I invested in getting some of the most recent releases, and they are blooming well this year.

Photo here shows Hem Thor's Brother, which was named so because the parent seed pod produced another release named Hem Thor's Thunder.  I have both, but TT has not started to bloom yet.

For those interested in seeing these, they are planted towards the street at 49 So. Pierson Road.  They will be blooming from now through early August.

Too bad day lillys are deer candy. Ours get munched immediately.

This thread is very interesting especially valuable info about orange Hemerocallis fulva
