Mission is not "hot" right now, so you might have to rethink not shopping on-line, especially Craig's list. Restoration Hardware had a lot of mission at one time. Ethan Allen used to have a mission line called "American Impressions." These lines are retired now at the stores, but presumable still available as second hand finds.

Try the unfinished wood furniture places in the area. There's Derbyshire's on Route 23 near Wayne and Gelco on the shore. They have a website with pictures of their offerings but you need to go there to buy and to look at it in person. You can google them. They both have mission style furniture and it's solid wood which you can have finished to your own specs or you can do the finishing yourself.

Try shopping online for a store that carries Mission style furniture, then go to the store.

FYI...valley furniture in Watchung is closing and selling off their stock including many Stickley pieces. Discounts were 40% when I was there 2 weeks ago.

Scott Jordan Furniture. Beautiful cherry pieces, but the price reflects the quality.

Pompanoosic Mills. They have a showroom in the city. Made in the US. Gorgeous stuff. You can see it on their website.

Also, items from the Restoration Hardware line of mission furniture are always appearing on Craigslist, good quality and virtually indestructible.

I had forgotten about Pompanoosuc Mills! Very beautiful furniture at a price that reflects the quality.

that's what I was going to suggest...all hand-crafted, US (largely Brooklyn!) made. I'd say a slightly lighter/more modern take on mission

I love Pompanoosic Mills, Thomas Moser, Stickly, etc. but the OP is looking for less expensive options, and not willing to look on-line. So they should check out the cheaper places first, like Berkshire Furniture on Rt. 22, Raymor & Flanagan, Thomasville, and even Bob's Furniture. Also, I've heard great things about Macy's for furniture.

A friend who just built a house bought four Moser bar stool type seats for his breakfast bar-cost a ton but boy are they comfortable.

Spend a Saturday driving to Lancaster county. Only about two hours, shop and order your furniture, have a nice lunch and come home. It is well worth ordering from the source and much more affordable. Quality can't be beat! Well worth the effort.

Despite its higher price. It's the quality of the grain -- 1/4 sawn white oak has a distinctive look that makes the other types look cheap.

FWIW, the Pampanoosuc Mills stuff looks more Shaker than Mission, but maybe that's just me.
