Max, WxNut, will it ever rain again?

My plants are dying. The sidewalk is dirty. The air is exhaust-laden. When will it end?

Just looked up the stats and rainfall for August was about half of normal. Preliminary numbers suggest that this was the 13th driest August since record keeping commenced in 1895. It certainly is dry and nasty now. The air could use a good washing, as could my driveway.

Yes, but I couldn't tell you when.

Our brown, brown lawn makes me sad.

I'm OK with grass going dormant...I just worry about my trees and shrubs.

We had the lawn newly seeded and a lot of planting done this spring, finally... So I'm worried that it's all a lost cause! Fingers crossed

My huge, very old, holly tree is dropping all its' newly formed berries, won't be many, if any, pretty red berries this winter. Roots are so deep, impossible to water.

Have large chunks of browned leaves on some trees....

I would like a nice rainy weekend so I don't have to feel obligated to get the kids outside oh oh.

Do a long, slow drip irrigation a couple places around the leaf line. (Fancy term for turn the hose on really, really low and let it slowly water the holly for a few hours in each spot.)

Am I the only one that waters my established perennial gardens and shrubs when there isn't enough rain?

Yes. I don't think anyone else waters your garden when there isn't rain.

No, we do water...but between traveling a lot and these stretches of dryness we may not be doing it as well as a nice good rain would

Ha!!

Sweet Sweet rain, finally. grin

With the voluntary drought restrictions in place, we have been reluctant to water our plants. Now that rain has finally come, we will let that provide the watering for us for now.

The answer to the tread's title is yes I guess!!

I hope we get plenty. The sky looks iffy for keeping this up. But just getting the dust out of the air helps.

I am also very excited to see the evening temperatures for the next several days. Goodbye a/c, hello attic fan!

I really was looking forward to a downpour. Boo!

Still possible. Day is not over yet.

I'm gonna go out here on a limb and say it rained today... quite hard up here in CT and on Long Island. Hope NJ got some.
