We are happy to announce that the first-ever MAPSO Book Festival will be happening on June 9 and 10. The festival will open on Friday night, June 9, at SOPAC, with a keynote event featuring best-selling popular science author Mary Roach. Mary's event will be preceded by the opening night party (with open bar!) which will feature a meet, greet and mingle with Mary and other festival authors. To purchase tickets to Mary's event (a ticket includes a copy of her latest bestseller, Grunt) and the party, please click here. As Mary's event and the party will be the only "fundraiser" for the book festival, we hope you can join us to lend your support and help make the book festival the annual event we hope it will become.
The rest of the festival will be held the following day at the Woodland and Burgdorff Center in Maplewood, and feature authors "in conversation," panels, and a dedicated, all-day children's area. Words Bookstore is the official bookseller for the festival. We are still looking for additional sponsorships from local businesses large and small, as well as volunteers to assist with the festival. If you can help, or have any questions or comments, please contact Robert Lasner, robert@mapsobookfest.org
The author line-up so far (we are still booking authors) includes:
