Maplewood Motorcyclists?

I'm looking for people in town who ride and want to socialize. I know there's a guy in town with a speed triple and I think I saw a 996 and an 848 Black. I'm the silver SV650-S.

I'm in South Orange with a silver/black Moto Guzzi Griso. I have some fun local routes I am happy to share, but I usually go for longer rides (2-300 miles) up in NY or NE NJ/PA.

Other MOL bikers:

@calgaryjeff
@jessler
@Paul_Sotrop
@djsiry

Replied via PM.
I ride a silver CBR1100 for ~300-400miles/day or a red MV312R for

Anyone up for a meetup some time? Can't do next weekend but open after that. Maybe morning coffee somewhere like the zoo or Papermill or whatnot.

Suzuki GSX650F (and a Honda F6B this season if the wife loosens the purse strings). I'm always game for a ride. I usually do Hawks nest to Hancock or just a loop up the Palisades to Bear mountain and the bridge to 9 but I'm good for a 300 mile day. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

I'm up to meet in Millburn for coffee and then a couple of Watchung Reservation runs to shake the cobwebs out grin

I've been developing a fun Northwest New Jersey run (shown to me by a Harley rider, no less!) that I'm happy to share. The other ideas posted here sound great, too.

Great shot, @GGartrell. Where was that taken?

That was in Monterey California https://www.flickr.com/photos/jptsr1/sets/72157628503392389/ We moved here from Bikers paradise (the Bay area). Santa cruise mountains were 10min from my door and I could be on my way up or down the coast in 20min. Rode all year round. Now I stick my bike in the garage 4 months a year and had to invest in heated gear.

I ride also, but sold my bike (CBR600RR) right before moving here. Planning to get a cruiser next season and would definitely be up for rides. I usually like to ride up to Bear Mountain and around seven lake drive, nice curves and lots of other bikers out there.

Great photos! Santa "Cruz" is home. I miss it every day. oh oh

Still love the Griso....although I am looking towards a V7 Racer

Just south of Monterey Bay...

I'm in Maplewood- HD Road King. Limited time to ride (young kids), generally couple times a week to Princeton or Philadelphia for work. Would be fun to connect on a weekend from time to time.

Very nice! Did you ever ride with the guys from grouprides.net or BARF? Your bike looks very familiar.

Lived in San Diego but used to ride up the coast to Santa Rosa, Laguna Seca, Reno... But usually, Palomar Mountain, Topanga Canyon near Santa Barbara. Around here, mostly Catskill Mountains, Monticello, Hawks Nest Area. Occasionally, Eastern PA, Delaware Gap areas.

San Diego is the furthest south I've done. Had a trip to Mexico planned but then the wife got an offer here in NJ. I do Hawks Nest a lot now and PA for Walmart runs. I slab it there and take the back roads home.

Commuted to my job in Philly today- tried to do as many back roads as possible both ways. Only partially successful due to road closures around Washington Crossing.

Wow! Maplewood to Philly? Thats a heck of a commute. I need to stop complaining about driving to the Bronx every day.

I'd do Philly trip twice a day even if on the Tpk instead of riding through the City. I consider myself an "aware" rider having had the commute/ride experience in London, Los Angles and decades of riding experience but I have a great disdain for riding in the City.

I am up for an intro meet 'n great during the upcoming weekend or the week after to make it work for mja and go for a "feeler" ride. mja said cannot do this weekend.

Harley rider here. We don't discriminate in SOMA grin

Izzat a CBR1100xx? I had a similar 3-Givi setup on my VFR, which I used to ride in similar locations (up until about 2004)-

ETA: oh, I see you posted it as a CBR1100 up thread, sorry I missed that.

Yeah, there's motorcyclists around here. Pick a place, pick a time, and see who shows up. You won't get 100 percent of us, but you won't get 1 percent of us either.

Some of you will laugh at that.

If there's not something on my motorcycle club's ride calendar, I'll be there. I'm a member of the Skylands BMW Riders Club. We might the first Monday of the month out in Stewartsville, which is near the Pennsylvania border. Although "BMW" is in the title of the club, at least a third of the members don't own one, but it's likely how they found the group after owning one. There are three other BMW clubs in the area and I know at least two of them organize a few rides.

I ride a BMW R1100r, but not usually around town. For riding the OrangeWoodBurnMitField area, I'm on a Piaggio Fly 150 scooter with a red/black Motoport jacket & black helmet. But elsewhere, like the "Congs of New Jersey," you'll find me wearing a grey 'Stich Roadcrafter and this brain bucket.

Sorry, Rob! I'm a Harley fan- really wanted an XR1200 for a bit but couldn't resist the charms of the Guzzi- but many of the Harley dominant rides I've been on have been more of the "Highway cruise to a BBQ joint" variety. A couple of weeks ago I went on a ride lead by two women on Harley's that was 90% back roads - lots of fun and somewhat unexpected, based on my experience. So no discrimination intended oh oh

There's an old friend of mine who recently moved to the Gregory area of West Orange who rides a Buell. I'm sure he'd be up for a meetup as well. Speaking of which, @mja, maybe a meetup group would be appropriate for calendaring? I'm a member of 3-4 other motorcycle meet ups and the calendar feature is handy for keeping track of rides.

I may have seen you turning left off Mead onto Ridgewood this past Sunday, maybe? I was incognito, driving a car (hack, spit).

Gray 'Stitch was a defacto sport touring uniform for a while. I got mine in those few years when the gray was almost olive green- it's faded now but it still has a definite green cast to it. Severe fashion deficiency but so damn useful!

I nominate Saturday the 10th as a meet up day. Maybe 7:30 AM? Papermill, Whole Foods, the Maplewood train station, or the theater in South Orange might be good parking lots. I'm leaning toward the train station or whole foods due to their proximity to coffee.

What do you guys think?

Nice! The old school, tubular framed SV- I was an owner, too (of the unfaired version)- this is up above the Rock Store, near Cornell, CA on Mulholland Drive.

Nice! I go back and forth on whether or not I like the fairing. Parking it in NYC meant getting hit by people trying to parallel park and going through several sets before we moved out here.

:/

Cant do Mothers day weekend but I will be there for the 2nd inaugural ride.

I'm heading up to this tomorrow morning- going to meet 25+ peeps from a Triumph group I hang out with (from back in my Bonneville days):
