Love the trail maps throughout the reservation!

Not sure when these were installed, but they're super helpful.  I tend to be pretty proficient on a few trails - but every now and the I can get a bit disoriented in the middle of the res.

And here’s hemlock falls on Sunday

They've been putting them in gradually over the past year or two.  I keep the map in my phone so I'm never without it (bought a paper copy at Words a while back)

I think the posted trail maps are a big help and I have a few paper copies of the trail map that I bought at Words.

Following up on the comment above, one of the simplest but most helpful apps I have is the "SMR Map App"

https://www.somocon.org/smc-store/smr-android-map-app/

Nothing fancy but it shows all the detail of the paper map and has a few neat features including showing you exactly where you are on the trail/map.

I'm embarrassed to say how many times I got turned around on new trails before I had the app.

It is only $4.99, with proceeds going to the South Mountain Conservancy.

I believe it is currently limited to Android.

Hi,

Part of my eagle scout project was to install that mini map post at Hemlock Falls. I also installed a mini map post at Shady Nook and new maps at the kiosks near Hemlock Falls, Mayapple Hill, Tulip Springs, and Washington Rock.

I hope they helped!

Well done, Owen. Keep up the public service!

Not exactly map-related. But family were in the reservation the other morning and saw a rescue effort for an apparently hurt hiker. Police, fire, EMS, ATVs. Reported it was impressive and instilled additional confidence in local first responders. This was at the entrance off Glen near the Millburn Library.
