10 day forecasts are only 50% accurate, so there's hope.
I'm very skeptical of all weather reports, let alone one ten days out.

drummer boy might be in the best place to see the eclipse.
Jersey jack, maybe head upstate New York.

I'm figuring' on that. Maybe a small town in the middle of nowhere -- Old Forge, NY.
About 4 1/2 hour ride. ---- long day, But I'll probably give it a crack.
I'll be in Vermont, staying with friends who live east of Burlington in the path. Bonus if we get to see the eclipse. I'm not relying on the forecast yet (or probably at all) but I've been looking at it every day starting a few days ago, and "so far, so good."
I saw the 2017 eclipse in St Louis (home of one of my grown children) where August weather was more supportive. But there were a few clouds around and a viewing party we knew about (and had bailed from) was unfortunately blocked by one of them. We had a clear view.
You just can't do much about weather.

Why can’t it just be rescheduled. Should always have a rain date.
god is not as omnipotent as we've been led to believe. or so I've heard.
So if you aren't planning on leaving the South Orange - Maplewood area, any ideas on where the best place to view the eclipse would be?

Flat ground, with unobstructed view of s/w or ssw sky. I vote for Sandy Hook
Weather permitting, Millburn Library is organizing a viewing on their adjacent field. Glasses provided. Registration required, Go to their website for additional information.
There are some patches of blue sky here and there!
ETA - duh I thought it was today
Joan, Millburn Library is full up, waiting list now. Any other leads? Last eclipse SO library was just fine.

Doesn't hurt to get on the waiting list. I signed up as soon as the event was announced. Sorry it is full now.

It's public property. How can they keep people away?
The Millburn Library told me it couldn’t find me on any waiting list.
So I said, “You know my name. Look up penumbra.”

The library building is a public space too. For indoor activities, they limit participation based on space availability. Due to demand, some of their programs are wait listed. Same may be the case for outdoor activities they sponsor. They will have a list of registered participants and a wait list. Their normal procedure is to admit those who registered first and then fill in any available space with those on the wait list. limited available parking and limited pairs of certified glasses will also impact the number of people who can attend the event.
Well… since our library is out of commission… we should be thankful another town is accepting neighbors to share their space.
Buy a pair of glasses from 7/11 and go hangout in memorial park.
it's Eclipse-Mania around here. wall to wall tv coverage. schools closed. very exciting.

Thanks for the tip. I found them at 7/11 yesterday and I'm psyched!
Didn't have totality here in NJ but 89 percent showed a cool view which we saw with 2017 glasses spouse found (hope they still had protective powers even though they said discard after 3 years oy). Can't wait to see some photos from the experts in the path of totality
The totality locations on TV looked great. Not exactly sure what happened around here.
I drove to Wyoming for the last one and posted photos here.
I was considering a road trip as far as San Antonio, with a couple of tourist stops between. It looks like there will be either rain, cloudy or partial cloudy along the entirety of the path in the U.S.
That is not worth the time and effort or expense.
I hope the forecast changes between now and April 8.
