Looking forward to Maplewoodstock

Yesterday a group of us went to Crayfish Fest at the Sussex Fairgrounds - lots of great music and food, but no lobster rolls.  Now we are counting the days to Maplewoodstock.

Like Maplewoodstock, there is a designated "tent" area, but only canopies are allowed, no sides that block people's view.

Unlike Maplewoodstock, it is a controlled space, so they could charge admission.  It is also a larger space so people were not fighting for territory.  People could leave their chairs for an hour or two to go to one of the other parts of the festival and no one moved their stuff.

We started brainstorming about how we could maximize the space at Maplewoodstock since it has become so popular.

-move the craft sales to another area - even the field on the other side - they take up valuable viewing space and block people's view of the stage.

-for the same reason, could the kids' area be moved to behind the stage?

-canopies only, which must be taken down at sunset.  One year we arrived late and a random group kindly invited us to sit under their canopy for the headliners, which was nice.  But should a small group be able to claim a large piece of prime real estate just because they have a canopy overhead in the dark?

-raffle off canopy space for each day?  People could buy raffle tickets and the profits could be used to help fund Maplewoodstock.

33 more days !

Sound like good ideas.  You can contact the volunteer organizers directly at www.maplewoodstock.com or maplewoodstock@gmail.com

I wish they would add bathrooms at the top of the hill since the train station is not open for access to its restrooms.

And yes, I've already submitted the idea to the organizers.

Moving the craft, food may not be the best idea. It is the accessibility to the vending areas that makes the sale of the  vending spots attractive.

Is the site now near maximum capacity?

For the record, it was Ligeti who suggested NRBQ a few years ago. They will be GREAT, you'll see.

We had 2 or 3 port-a-johns on Dunnell across from the station last year.  We'll get a bunch up there as well this year.
