Looking for recs for trip to Sedona

Heading to Sedona soon and interested in hearing recs for activities, dining and activities. Thank you!

We love Red Rock country! It is a hiker's paradise. There are lots of trails, many of them near town and easily accessible. The Airport Loop hike is an easy one. We did it the first day and I liked it because it gives you a good overview of the area. There's a shop called the Hiking Place that sells good maps. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable. The drive up to Oak Creek Canyon is amazing. Pack a picnic and stop at Slide Rock State Park along the way. Red Rock State Park is also cool.

If you have time, I recommend taking a day trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We were lucky enough to get last minute dinner reservations at El Tovar. The food was surprisingly good and not very expensive, considering it is in a National Park.

Don't let anyone talk you into attending a time-share presentation at the Hyatt. We ended up there because hubby wanted some free train tickets LOL .

Enjoy!

Depending on your interests, the Pink Jeep tours offer a variety of trips from visiting sites with petrogyphs to more rugged ones.

For many, a calming experience can be had from a visit to one of the several 'vortex' locations.

It is a beautiful area and you should be able to find activities and food to suit your preferences.

We were just there in late August.

Stayed up Oak Creek Canyon at http://www.foresthousesresort.com/ Loved it! A bit rustic and off the grid - no cell phone service, no TV; but very serene and gorgeous.

The hiking is fantastic - need to know your preferences as to hike difficulty before recommending trails.

Sedona is truly beautiful!

Thanks so much for the tips! We prefer a moderate-difficult hike.

We stayed at these very nice cabins and loved it:

Take the hourlong drive to Jerome, check out all the arts and crafts shops and watch the sunset, sitting on Jerome's mountain overlook with the assembled townspeople and visitors. http://www.azjerome.com/jerome/shops/ You might want to include Prescott in the trip -- it's only a half hour further west than Jerome -- and it's a charming, classic western town.

The pink Jeep tours are a lot of fun; grab breakfast at The Coffee Pot Restaurant (popular with locals) and pick yourself up some cool mugs.

Loved Jerome! Had a great early dinner at Grapes. One of the locals in Sedona recommended it and he was right.

Edited to add Haunted Hamburger in Jerome! Awesome burgers and a great view
