LOOKING FOR EXCELLENT LOCAL DENTIST

The dentist I've been seeing for over 40 years since I was 8 years old has finally retired.  It is a huge loss since he was knowledgeable, honest, relatively painless, conservative in his recommendations for treatments, reasonably priced, and a good guy in general.  So, I'm looking for another excellent local dentist in Maplewood, South Orange, Millburn, or Union. I like to go to someone who: listens and is responsive to the patient (ie, isn't overly invested in his/her ego and status as a "doctor"), is honest and not overly aggressive in recommending procedures (ie, will actually tell you that you don't need work or that work can be postponed), is relatively pain free, fairly easy to get an appointment with, is reasonably priced, is available in an emergency, can do more than just provide checkups and fill teeth (like caps, cosmetic dentistry, etc), and actively continues his/her education and training beyond dental school. The first two of these qualities are most important to me. Please let me know if you know of someone good, if and how they fit the description I've provided, why you like them, how long you've seen them, and if you happen to have any medical or dental credentials yourself.

Thanks,
chiaroscuro

We love Hal Solomon in Millburn  973-379-7222  http://halsolomondds.com/

Everyone is great and they have been very available in emergency situations.  It's a very friendly office.

We've been happy with Dr. Solomon.

Another Dr Fried family here.

Peter Benish in Millburn

Drs. Hamberger in Livingston.  Been going to him (and now his son) for 30+ years.

Jim Eckert in Summit. Have known him and his family since I was 5. Recently his daughter has joined his practice. You would be hard pressed to find kinder and more honest and compassionate human beings.

I'm a rare person who actually LOVES going to the dentist!  Dr. Silverstrom's practice on Livingston Ave in Livingston.  Very state-of-the-art.  The whole staff is like family.  Have been with them for @ 25 years --also first the father & now the son.
