LED Bulb disposal

A couple of LED bulbs have crapped put lately. Does the MOL Collective Hive mind know what to do with them?

Worth a try to contact Home Depot. I bought fluorescent bulbs recently and found they had a disposal for the old ones. Maybe they take used LEDs.

LED bulbs can be thrown out like normal bulbs. There's no hazardous materials like in CFL bulbs. (It's theoretically possible someone could recycle them, but it's not anything I've seen.)

If you ask the Google this question you will read that qrysdonnell is correct, the trash.  However, if you dump them back a Home Depot parts of the bulb (the glass) will be recycled.

it probably won't be recycled if put back in the home depot bin.... probably like most recycling just spoils the whole batch.. its called wishful recycling. there is not much $ in glass recycling....manufactures' are also switching to plastic for the bulbs.  If you watch documentaries like plastic China.... you will see recycling is terrible for the environment for these foreign countries...we are just shipping our problems elsewhere

recycling is basically a dead end meant to make people feel a little better as we otherwise destroy the planet.

Having said that - I thought LCD bulbs would last for at least ten years. Why are we already throwing them away? (I've had a number of duds myself.)

There is a tremendous variation in price and quality with LED bulbs, and a few years ago it was far worse.  That's why many are failing early.
