KODI TV

I have come across several references to KODI tv. It appears to be a software app for getting tv via the net. Someone said it can also play live programs. The wikipedia article re this is so incredibly jargon laden that it's completely valueless to me.

Am I right in thinking that this is like converting a pc into something like a roku? If yes, how can we get live tv with this when we can't with other sreaming devices?

Yes - you can use KODI to get illegal copies of the latest in-theater-only movies and TV shows that you aren't paying for.
