My godson attended, and I cannot think of a negative thing to say about Kindergan. Although there is plenty of play and "down time," the focus is on learning, but it's done in such a way the children just absorb it without even realizing it's school. Although the owners and teachers are Jewish, our family is not, and we found that to be true for many students -- the religion part was never an issue, although if keeping kosher is important to a family, that's what they do there. I would recommend that you pay the school a visit, meet the teachers and speak with the director, Frumie, with any questions that you have. We found it an extremely positive experience, and it left him totally ready for kindergarten. He has really fond memories of preschool.
my older daughter went to camp there a couple years and I was delighted with our experience. We're not Jewish, and I thought that might be an issue, but it wasn't at all. The kids did learn some jewish history/made challah on thursdays/etc, but it was fine with us. The teachers were so lovely and nurturing. Frumie does a great job there. Totally positive experience. Real plus was that, because they were strictly kosher, they provided all the food. (although I'm not sure if it works the same with preschool).
We were considering Kindergan for preschool, but eventually opted for one that was within walking distance from our house.
Kindergan was a wonderful experience for both of my kids. As others have mentioned, Frumie, the director, is amazing. And the teachers have always seemed fantastic.
If you live nearby, you'll probably end up meeting many other neighborhood families with young children there.
I loved KinderGan. The teachers care and engaged with kids. Also took kids outside everyday unless it was a blizzard and served great warm lunch if kids stayed for lunch. Added bonus was my kid actually learned something which is more than I can say from other preschools that she attended.
