ISO volunteer opportunity at food pantry

anyone know of any? I've left a few messages, but no one's gotten back to me. Any leads appreciated.

Have you tried contacting the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges?  Link: http://www.orangesfoodpantry.org/

I'm active in Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges; we'd be delighted to have you volunteer any Wednesday morning, except first Wednesday of the month, from 8:15 - 11:00. We serve 200 clients on a regular basis at Church of the Epiphany, 105 Main Street, Orange. If that timing doesn't work for you, you can volunteer at Community Foodbank of NJ (not a pantry) Tuesday nights between 4:30pm & 8pm or Saturdays: 9am-11am or 11:30am-1:30pm [http://www.cfbnj.org/help/volunteer]. PM me for more possibilities.

Although volunteering  the Community Foodbank in Hillside referred to above I think isn't necessarily as personal as a more local pantry might be, it is a solid volunteer opportunity. I used to go there with my children when they were doing community service for school, and found it throughly worthwhile. Sometimes we got to sort donations and sometimes we did more mundane stuff like stuff envelopes, but it's all related to getting food to people in need.

I volunteer at the St. Joseph's food pantry.  You don't have to be a member of the church (nor catholic) to volunteer.  The third Saturday of the month is our distribution day (groceries are delivered to seniors and the pantry is open for registered families).  The week prior to the distribution day, we sort our donations on Monday night and we pack the bags on Thursday night.  PM me if you are interested.  We have many drop in volunteers who come when they can.  We'd welcome you if you are interested.

When I first retired I offered my services to Community Foodbank in Hillside, since I had been a monetary donor for many years and wanted to do more.  I received an e-mail back from them saying, literally "we don't have a need for someone with your experience"!  Beggars can be choosers, I guess.
