If you have an appointment with Appraisal Systems, make sure you are on the look out for them!

This is bullsh!t. I have been home for 2 hours waiting for them as they left a note that they would be here between 4 and 6 today. I left work early to be here during that time. I have been home since 3:45pm. I just saw another note on my door, which was not there when I came home!! THEY DID NOT EVEN RING THE FREAKING BELL! Seriously, who can we complain to? They are just adding little notes to the doors without even bothering to see if someone is home. I guess I should have waiting patiently by the door for them to walk up the stairs and open the door at that point?

Has anyone else experience this problem?

Did you call the number on the form?  I think that is the number you are looking for.

I think complaining prior to the inspection is a huge mistake. One that you'll be paying for for some time.

Just remember that these people are not evil.  The guy that did ours was quite nice.  We chatted as bit while he gave filmdog a scritch.

I'm not giving them a free pass for bad service, just suggesting that you don't start the conversation with them in all caps.

Is this for Maplewood or South Orange?

Same company is doing both.

I was lucky came on time in South Orange.

ETA: And he rang the bell

They did our exterior yesterday, and left "the note" saying they would be back between 5 and 8 tonight. We're home--with our front door wide open--so I'll let you know if they show in the next hour.

I wonder this time around what the balance is between good and bad experiences.  LAst few times was abysmal.  Maybe both good and bad should be reported to the TC - they chose this company (again).  Their emails are on the town website

They showed up, about five till eight. Took about 15 minutes, nice guy, I learned a bit about house appraisal.

Okay. Our experience was fine. They showed up one day when we weren't around and left a note they'd be back on a specific date between 5 and 7. The guy showed up at 5:15 and was done by 5:30.

I'm in Maplewood and I haven't had a visit yet from the appraiser, nor has any message been left on the door. I wonder if they missed us, or just haven't gotten to our block yet. I think I'll call Town Hall tomorrow. I don't have the letter with the company's phone number on it.

cody, not sure where you live, but I haven't gotten any notes after the initial letter about the process either. We're on Maplewood Ave.

jasper, I'm on Park Road, near Maplewood Town Hall. I'll check with my neighbors, too.....just don't want to miss the appraisal and wind up with a vastly inflated figure!

I'm on Woodland and no one has stopped by yet. I'm starting to get paranoid!

When I called them they told me they expect it to take a couple of months, so if you haven't received a note yet they may not have gotten to your part of town yet.

They said during the special town meeting that they were working east to west and expected the process to take most of the summer.  Nobody has left any notes on my door yet either.  I live east of Cody so expect they would get to me before either her, noseygirl99, or Jasper.

They haven't gotten to me (near Joan) either.

I am east of Joan and SAC and they got to us three days ago

24 hour advance notice of interior inspection is simply unacceptable, period.  I know township government peruse these pages.  We do not serve at the pleasure of this vendor. It is quite the opposite.

This (adequate advance notice) is especially true in summer, when vacations have to be considered.

not to mention the method of notice delivery.  A post it note.

We got months of notice, by mail.  There is also a phone number on both the letter and the post it note you can call to make an appointment at a more convenient time. Untwist your knickers, stop whining, and be an adult about this.

I tried calling but it was after 4pm. Anyhow, I ended up running up and down the street until I found him since he could not have gone too far. Asked him to come by and take a look which he did. But it was really brief. Did anyone get anything measured? Our guy did not. He just looked at the kitchen and bathrooms really. I also almost signed someone else's house before I realize the mistake, so make sure that you confirm that you sign the correct address.

I was home at the time they asked me to be, between 4-6pm yesterday. I left work early to be there when they asked me to so that I would not have to make another appointment. I just was annoyed that minimal effort was done to see if I was home. My dog, a Maltese who considers himself our personal notification system, did not even move from his dogie bed when this guy stopped by to place the sticky on the door. If we are home owners are expected to be home during work hours to meet with them a minimal effort on their part should be done to ensure that we are home. Perhaps that is too much to ask?

Good for you.  The posters on this thread have every right to complain as this is not a free service.  One would think Appraisal Systems, Inc web site would give an indication of what area or neighborhood they are or will be appraising.

The inspector came last Thursday and left a note--I was at work. Said he (I had looked it up on their website so I knew it was a "he") would come on Friday between 5 and 8--I would have had to leave work early, but I took the day off for other personal reasons. He did not show up, but we had had a brief rainstorm. I noticed on the post it that appointments would be rescheduled if there was inclement weather. I saw him the next day, Saturday just as I was getting home; he was next door. I waited on my front porch to talk to him. He said I was next on the list. The appointment only took about 15 minutes and the guy was very nice. I asked what happened since we only had a little rain and he said he was in rain the whole time driving home, out Route 80 and 15, so he had no idea we only had a little rain.

I'm close to you and haven't seen anything either.  FWIW, I called Appraisal Systems last week just to be sure no one had come by and I happened to miss them.  They said they'd be in our area either this week (which obviously never happened) or next week.

Can somebody share the # on their form? I lost mine & need to schedule an appt.

I called them and all they offered was that you haven't received notice on the door then they haven;t come to you.  of course, that doesn't speak to if the post it note flew away in the rain or was pawed off by rodents.
