they bore license plates with no state ID, just white numbers and letters on a black background.

"Where are you from?   France. It took me a bit to adjust to that information. Then I saw the baggage tag on one of the bikes. "JFK."

They flew their bikes to JFK and are riding from N.Y.C. to Los Angeles. 

I gave them two safety vests. One of the guys will probably not wear it. The other guy tied it around the luggage rack where it will do the most good.

I hope they enjoy seeing America.
