Huckabee wishes he could've identified as female in high school gym

This Republican primary shows so much promise. Best primary ever is my prediction.

why are many socially conservative politicians so creepy when they talk about issues regarding sexuality and gender identity?

The funny thing is that a couple of gentleman were saying something down those lines earlier today in my office. One of them was saying that he should have done that and then gone into sports. Talk about missing the forest for the trees.

Wonder if Huck was dweeb in high school.

Do you really need to wonder?

I just wonder about adults making comments in public that I would expect to hear from teenagers.

Playing to the crowd, he was just playing to the crowd. Schmuck!

Do people REALLY believe that or are they just a**h*les?

The latter - but also, I think they don't know what to believe. They don't understand at all (and let's be honest, most of us probably can't) BUT they make no attempt to understand or be the least bit empathetic.

All sorts of repressed stuff spills out of the mouths of the holy...sometimes out of their shorts as well.

Just wait--Huck is going to say that people criticizing him are denying him of his civil rights to make fun of people with differences.

The War on Christianity

I wonder what he really was thinking in the shower after gym class.........

When do we start offering group rates for Republicans who desperately need therapy for their twisted ideas about sex, gender, women's issues, etc?

Witness lunatic Scott Walker who thinks women can shake off the effects of rape after a brief time and accept that they're expectant mothers.

Beyond bizarre. Do these guys not have any women in their lives such that can can imagine how they might feel if a woman they care about was a rape victim?

Oh never mind. I need look no farther than our own governor for an example of a politician who would happily sacrifice his own mother to gain political advantage.

Here's my thing with the "rape exception" to abortion. I actually applaud a politician who states that s/he is opposed to abortion in any and all circumstances, *even* rape and incest. I may not agree with their stance at all, but at least they're consistent. I call BS on someone who is willing to excuse an abortion in those situations. What they're basically saying then is that the sanctity of life is important above all else, except in those two circumstances - circumstances which THEY deem valid, as opposed to nearly other every circumstance.

Now, it's political suicide to actually say this, which happened to that senator from Indiana a few years ago. But to me that's a TRULY pro-life situation. Otherwise, the subtext there, when you really think about it, is "well, if you get yourself into the situation it's all on you. But if it wasn't your choice, then okay, I guess we can allow it."

When it comes to abortion, I only applaud those who practice what they preach when they are in that part of their lives when unplanned pregnancies can happen. I don't admire people who find religion and principle in their later years after sowing their wild oats.

Tarheels,

I have generally felt the way you do. That's why it is appropriate to call such people "Anti-Choice".

To them when a woman gets pregnant through unconsentual sex it's ok for her to have an abortion because she hasn't chosen to have sex.

Also, what about politicians who oppose abortion because they believe a fetus is a person but say that they would not punish the woman who has an abortion but only the doctor. How disparaging is that to women. It implies that they simply don't know what they are doing when they decide to have an abortion.

If a fetus is a child and abortion is murder then why should a woman who has an abortion be treated any differently than a woman who murders her infant?

Agreed, @LOST. And is a fetus only a person if the women has consensual sex to create said person?
