I'm quite done with this!!

This is why I can't imagine ever moving to Florida...

It's different in the south. (I grew up in Texas.) First and foremost, central air conditioning is everywhere. (The south didn't really "rise" until air conditioning technology became available to the masses.) Also there is much more covered parking and other such features that allow you to avoid having to deal with it. When I lived in Houston and worked downtown there, I drove my car from a covered parking area (in a low-rent apartment complex that DID have central air) to a downtown parking garage. Then I took an elevator down to an underground tunnel that connected to my office building. So I literally never had to go out in it if I didn't want to. Also, it may sound worse to have the heat be constant rather than in intermittant heat waves like here, but actually the opposite is true. You get used to it and you just don't do things like yardwork or exercise or whatever in the heat of the day. The lifestyle works around it and it works.

I thought I would die my first summer in Maplewood with very little AC after living all of my life before that in Houston.

That being said, I do avoid traveling back to Texas in the summer when possible and I LOVE our cooler summer days that we have from time to time (like late last week.)
