Health Dept. Flu Shots

The Maplewood Health Dept. will be giving flu vaccinations Wed. 10/24 from 10am till noon at the Town Hall and Saturday 10/27 from noon until 2pm at the Town Hall.  No charge for persons age 60 and over. No children.. age 18 and over.  $20 for persons under age 60.

We are using the 4 valent flu vaccine that protects against two type A and two type B flu.  Contact Maplewood Health Dept. 973-762-8120 x4400 if there is a question.

99 persons received their flu shot at the flu clinic on Wednesday.  There will be a second flu clinic on Saturday October 27, 2018 from noon to 2 pm at town hall.  This is a quick, easy, and convenient way to receive your flu shot if you have not yet gotten one this year.

from Bob Roe:  Flu Shots are still scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 10/27, from noon until 2pm at the Town Hall.  In case of very severe weather, we may reschedule.  But some rain and low wind will not be a problem.   I will try and post in case of cancellation.        Other programs tomorrow:

1.  Drug-prescription take back day at Police Dept.   If you have unused old prescriptions to dispose of, you can bring them to the Police Dept., 1618 Springfield Ave. Sat. 10/27 from 10am until 2pm.   The concern is to make sure you do not have any strong pain medicines just lying in your medicine cabinet where they might fall into the wrong hands.   Please call me at the Health Dept. if there is any question.   973-762-8120 x4400.

Note:  DO NOT throw old prescriptions down the toilet or sink.   Call me at the Health Dept. and I can advise how to dispose of them.

2.  Repair Cafe Do you have broken furniture or small appliances that you cannot fix?  There will be fix-it repair volunteers at Morrow Memorial Church tomorrow from 2pm-5pm.

Repair cafe is for anything you can carry in yourself that needs to be fixed.  Most popular items for repair have been bicycles, lamps, jewelry, fabric items, computers (software issues), and small electronics.  Aim is to keep broken items out of the landfills. Repairs are free.  Donations towards the cost of repair materials are welcome.  If our volunteers can't fix your item, they will either tell you how to repair the item yourself or advise as to where you can get the item repaired.  Repair Cafe is sponsored by SOMA Two Towns For All Ages.

Thank you Joan.   My mistake.  I heard great things about last year's Repair Cafe.

from Bob Roe:   The flu Clinic at the Town Hall today Oct. 27 is on.   Noon to 2pm

It is nasty out today, but no limbs down or flooding.  Now is the time to get flu shots.  And we have not guarantee that the weather next weekend will be any better.

Also, prescription drug drop off day at the Police Dept. 10am till 2pm.

As always, call me if there is a question.   973-762-8120 x4400.

Very professional (pretty much painless), and no line. Got my flu shot done.  Thanks!
