Hamilton's America - a documentary film. Premieres on Friday, Oct. 21 at 9:pm on PBS

What a great idea! A friend and I saw Hamilton in March (purchasing tixs almost a year out) and it was everything we had hoped it would be. We saw the original cast and we're still over the moon about it. During intermission, I took a look around and was happy to see a nice amount of teens / tweens in the audience. I told my friend so many kids would benefit from history being taught in this way (sans the hip hop; heavy on theatre).

Shout out to my HS AP history teacher Mr. O'Connor wherever you may be! We had a BLAST in his class and he truly brought history to life. Bags of tea for the Boston Tea Party (which he brewed for us throughout the week), bayonets at the battles (no one was injured!) and gave us scripts and wardrobe whenever possible. He and Lin would have gotten along just fine.

What a blessing to have had such a teacher.

We watched the repeat yesterday afternoon and Lin-Manuel Miranda is absolutely brilliant!

Thank goodness PBS does a lot of repeats. I was so looking forward to seeing it. But I was in Georgia and you can imagine my chagrin when the PBS station that had mentioned it on the news hour was showing high school football at that time. Another reminder why I don't want to live down South.
