Going Rate For A Snaked Drain?

Trying to decide if I should DIY (Rent snake from HD) or hire it out.

Interested in prices and names.

Thx

Anyone know what they paid for a cleared sink drain?

Python cleaned our main drain for a very reasonable price. Check out their website for a discount coupon.

When we first moved here I called Roto-Rooter to snake a drain. They tried to charge me $360. I told them to forget about it and called our regular plumber at the time which was Gateway. It's been awhile, but I think the charge was about $160.

I wouldn't try to DIY this. I've heard of pipes getting broken, etc. If something goes wrong, you'll just end up calling a professional plumber and paying them much, much more to fix your mistake than if you'd just paid them to snake the drain... Our go-to plumber is Coraggio Bros. I consider their pricing to be generally fair.

I have unfortunately had it done twice and each one costs about $90. Am now an avid user of drain strainers.

n00b- which drain is it? Sink or tub, something else? Sinks are super easy to disassemble at the trap and removed the clog inside. Tubs are more likely to use a snake. Snakes are inexpensive and reusable, also very simple to do yourself for $25. Happy to supply more information if you DIY.

Not every drain is the same some go easier than others. Experience is key in having it not go from a small job to a big one. Drain machines need someone with experience and technique its key. Drain machines can cause damage not only to pipework but to fixtures and sometimes floors, carpets, walls, curtins, tiles, mirrors amongst many other things. You can have the cable come out of another fixture and cause havoc in a room without even knowing it. It can also go up a vent and tear shingles on your roof off or damage gutters and also break windows as its flapping around hanging down from your roof. I have personally seen a few of these things happen in my years in the business lucky not me though.

If you need a plumber let me know we do drain cleaning also.

Thanks rowerg. I tried and failed. The clog was well past the P trap, which I had removed. Snaked in at least 4-5 feet, to no avail. Maybe the snake went up at a T when it should have gone down.

Ending up taking advantage of an Angie's List special. $89. Very satisfied.
