Ten days after the release of his new cd (Cardboard Boat) and accompanying book of short stories (The Free Brontosaurus), David Berkeley will be giving a free reading and concert at the South Orange Library. All ages are welcome! A 2015 winner of The Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition, Berkeley joins such previous winners as Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle, James McMurtry, and Robert Earl Keen.
The New York Times critic Jon Pareles says "Berkeley sings in a lustrous melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake."
