free topsoil archived

I heard that residents of Morris County can get it free topsoil from their Shade Tree Dept. Does anyone know if Essex County does that.

Both Maplewood and South Orange offer composted soil at their respective dumps (recycling centers) especially in the Spring. Check out your local dump.

Yeah they sent a dump truck full of it here. It was free!

I'd be wary of using that free compost in a garden, though. If it's not sterile, wouldn't it be likely to be sprout weeds?

I didn't know that they still delivered, they cancelled that service a while back. I have used it but you will find some weird things in it, and yes, you will get some odd things growing. It is good for fill though. Tom, how much did delivery cost? Seriously thinking about having some delivered to fill in the swamp in my back 40.
