Free Old Beer

Does beer go bad???? I have a mix of Sam Adams and Dos Equis (12 total) that have been sitting in my closet for about a year. Free to whoever can pick up today from my South Orange porch. PM for address.

Probably fine or could be used for cooking. Welsh rabbit?

I'm sure either will still taste better than Budweiser purchased yesterday.

Right, it might not taste as intended. Whether it tastes bad is up to you to decide. Try it.

Beer does go bad unless it's higher alcohol beer that suitable for aging. We're talking something at least 8%, so a run of the mill Sam Adams or Dos Equis wouldn't cut it. (I have some Dogfish Head 120 aging in my fridge at the moment. It's almost made it a year. Hope to get at least one of the bottles to 5 years.)

Now, even a rotten Sam Adams is probably better than a Budweiser, so someone might be able to drink it!

Not for Sam Adams it isn't.

Curious how you make beer last a year- mine never lasts more than a couple of days, forcing me to buy more.

I use all old beer leftover from parties- mostly Coors Lite and other undrinkables- for slug bait

Apparently beer is also good for repairing the brown spots in lawns that are caused by female dogs' pee. Just pour on the beer and watch the lawn recover. I plan to try this soon.
