Found Small Shaggy Greyish Black dog See Pic archived

It is obviously lost, maybe a rough coat Dachshund or Poodle mix,Greyish black, VERY scared.
I tried for 45 mins to get it into my car, no luck, he tried to bite me everytime, it is very scared and has been running for a while, it kept trying to cool it's paws in puddles. If he's yours check up and down Parker ave, It ran into Irvington but I steered it back into Maplewood.
Does anyone recognize this dog?, After chasing it for 45 mins yesterday it showed up at my house at 2am it is safe, please whisper me if you know it's owner

Bless you for taking care of him...he was smart to find you.

If his original owner wants him back, I hope that happens. If not, that is exactly how I got my baby, Sam - Sammy the wundermutt. Best freakin' dog in the world, and so, so, grateful and loving.

I have No clue how it found me, I was chasing it by car yesterday, all through Maplewood and Irvington, then gave up after a few close calls with other cars. and at 2am it is running up and down my driveway barking, so weird.

Turns out it's a girl and young 1 - 1 1/2 years old, no microchip. She sticks to me like glue won't leave my side. I hope I find the owner, I would love to keep her, BUT I have 3 dogs and 1 cat, can't take another dog.

wow she is a pretty little one!

that's a pretty great story, too, Janetlynn... it's amazingly lucky that she found you!

Isn't she ? She needs to be groomed she is a bit ragged,so I started calling her Ann, she is a cutie.
She likes other dogs and ignored my cat. Great little dog.

I"m still scratching my head about how she found my house, could she of recognized my car ? I had my dog Bean in the car with me maybe she tracked her scent ? I'm just glad she is safe and didn't get hit by a car.

either way, you must've made quite an impression on her!!

I guess so ! she is making quite the impression on me right now, she is housebroken ,and just scratched at my back door to go use the potty.

I want to get her groomed. Can anyone suggest a Groomer ?

You sound l;ike me a year and a half ago!

Shaggy, hairy mess was in the middle of the street the day before Christmas. Collar but no tag. I tried to get him in the car so he wouldn't get hit, but he was really scared. My younger son got out and crouched down and called him...he approached very slowly and as he neared my son...rolled over in submission and got his first belly rub. We ran to the vet before they closed, but there was no chip.

Because of the holiday the shelters were closed. I called the police, and animal control. All animal control could do is come pick him up and take him to the city pound...I just wanted to know if anyone had called and reported him lost.

He was house broken and lovely, and about a year old. The greyhound didn't seem to mind, and Sam was appropriately deferential. We plastered the neighborhood with posters, and called all the shelters and vets the day after Christmas. I got a stool sample checked just to make sure he didn't get our Grey sick. After a few days it was eveident nobody was looking for him. Good thing, because by then it would've been awful to see him go.

I hope raggedy Ann's owner is looking for her, but I'm really glad she found you.

in south orange you can have up to six. when you keep him; after he went through all that trouble to find you, it will only make five! you know you want to!

You and JTA are killing me, the only issue is she is already an adult, my 12 year old is very funny about bringing adult dogs into the home, puppies I've never had an issue but trying to bring an adult dog has always ended badly, and my 30lb female can be jealous, more then anything it is a safety issue for her, I wouldn't trust my two big ones alone with her .

I want her in a home that she is the center of attention not 5th in line. She deserves it.

Hey Jannetlyn:

You can bring her over to me if there is a space issue with the JAC. What's one more girl and she is small.

Sorry for being short the other day but I had bad pain in my leg all day on Friday. While we wer talking it got really bad. Ended up going to the ER and got admited for a bloodclot. Shots in the stomache with that stuff that makes your blood dilute instantly are not fun. Am home and will be home tomorrow so if you need to drop her today is the time.

Puppy love on Springfield Avenue!

Janetlynn,

If you want bajou to take her, call me and I will pick her up and take her over to bajou.

bajou, hope you feel better asap! my pa has blood clot problems in his legs, and it's no fun. glad you got it figured out quickly!!

Janetlynn, what do you suppose the sneeze factor is on this cutie?
we took a little survey online to figure out what type of breed would be good for us (hub is allergic to cats and some dogs), and poodle mixes came up as being a good match, as did schnauzer, and I think I see a little schnauzer in there, but I am no expert.

Lars, there was an ad on MOL for a free black poodle last week, if you want to check out a dog you know has the right (hypoallergenic) breeding for you and Mr. Lars. There was a shiitzu, too, which are also good for allergic types, but they wanted something like $250 for her.

This little girl is sure a cutie... the way her paws point outward makes me think of both dachshunds and basset hounds, but she also has elements of something much shaggier. Poodle could be right, so could schnauzer. One way to find out is to have her and Mr. Lars meet each other, spend some time playing, and see if he starts to sneeze or his eyes tear up or itch. That's how I found all of my cats. I just had to throw myself in there and see if I reacted.

Oh, and Janetlynn, GOOD FOR YOU! You did a terrific thing, taking in little Raggedy Ann after she tracked you down.

Hey Lars,

I'm leaning toward the Doxie-Poodle mix, it is a popularmix right now, She has slight curls to her hair. Wire hair doxies have a similar face to Schnauzers. She had puppies before her tummy is loose so she will need to be spayed. When I called animal control no one reported her lost

Thank you Peggy, she is so sweet and calm, I guess she figured I can't be that bad if I chased her for 45 mins. the day before.

At least she was smart enough to read your good intentions. I wouldn't necessarily do that if someone was chasing ME.

That's a good idea... maybe we'll take a pre-trip to JAC this month.
will start preparing myself for ensuing hysteria/panic attack/bawling.

so she is definitely going to the JAC?
we can't adopt until after baby arrives, but I want to get a dog asap afterwards.
I cannot stand this no pet BS any longer... I NEED PETTENTION!!!
we'll have to risk it that she'll still be available late-aug; of course I hope she finds a great family sooner....

.... and it's extremely likely there will be other adorable dogs available when you are ready. There seems to be a steady stream, unfortunately for them, and for the beleaguered shelters.

Let me know when she goes to the JAC, I want to meet her asap!

Frankly her coloring and her hair texture makes me think Cairn terrier. There are a couple in town but she seems to be a mix from the body style. Haven't met her as I am ONCE AGAIN stuck at home AAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHH.

Cairn terrier mixed with the doxy would give her the coat (it's a dominate gene) and the flop ears (which are dominate in dachsys
