For Women Only - Summer Shorts

Does anyone make "wide legged" shorts? I would like just a little more room in the leg area. I hate "long" Bermuda shorts and would like "normal" shorts - 5' inches - but with a wider leg. Am I nuts?

Maybe get a skort instead? What kind of material are you looking for? Lands End makes some knit shorts that are very comfortable with an elastic waist and kind of wide legs. I wear them to sleep in or lounge around the house, but I would wear them outside too if they worked well enough with the top.

I like the shorts from LL Bean -- the model with the shortest length. They come to mid-thigh on me. The legs are nice and roomy. I hate tight legs on shorts.

I love wider legged shorts! But I love them short. I've been searching for that style this season, but found a few from jcrew that I love—not exactly super wide but wider than chino shorts.

Have you seen the "riviera shorts" from Ann Taylor Loft? They have a nice fit.

Gap Weekend shorts are huge. Huge! And often 40 percent off. Despite whatever is going on there, which is not good.

Today, 30 percent off with the code TEES:

Check the men's section. You may have some luck at Unique thrift (nearest one by Best Buy in Union/Rt 22)....generic shorts are really no different looking for men and women...

from what i remember...most are longer, but they do have some shorter shorts

Thanks for advice and links. Question: what is a key word to indicate they have a wider leg opening? None of them really say that LOL

I have a similar problem looking for capris. (I have pretty much given up shorts these days.) So many of them are really tight, but I have found a few that are looser that I love! (The Lee "Easy Fit" line are great ... don't know if they also have shorts?)

I prefer a length longer than capris if I'm not wearing shorts, so I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but Talbots has cropped khakis in lots of colors and three fits. The Curvy fit seems to have a lot of room in the thighs and seat (where I don't need it) and a more sharply defined waist (where I do).

Another store where you should always wait for the inevitable 30 percent discount.

I reached out to Gap and this was their recommendation to me:

Gap actually has some culottes in white and black. Just about knee length. You could always have them shortened a bit.

I like either right above the ankle, about knee length, or short...mid calf length capris are not very flattering, at least not on me!
