Few Qs about getting my nails done

Where should I go to get the best price? I prefer to stay in MW but may consider going farther for some good reason. Place must be clean and work quality good. And if you can share what the average cost will be that's helpful too.

Finally, if someone could explain to me the real difference in terms of wear, tear, and price between a full set of gel (permanent French), powder and glue, and acrylics, I'd appreciate it.

I've been going to Vinny's Nails, which is on Valley, next to where the new drug store is being built. As for cleanliness, I wouldn't want to get my gallbladder removed there but I'd say it's satisfactory.

Because my fingernails reach a certain "nice" length and then ALL FALL OFF, like, within a week, I started getting the sculpted nails (powder + solvent) over my natural fingernails. Last Saturday, it cost me $40 for a "spa" mani/pedi. I do a lot of physical work with my hands and I'm an avid gardener (usually gloveless) and even then, my last manicure held up an entire - brutal - month.

I once saw someone getting her gel nails removed and it looked like something from a Wes Craven movie. Other than that, I have no idea about them.
