I don't think you need a permit for either project. If you are just repairing a couple of sections of an existing fence you should be fine.
At my old house (15 years ago) I hung a hammock with a couple of 6x6 pressure treated posts and I was told I didn't need a permit.
Tips: dig the hole between 30 and 36". The deeper the better. Make sure you put it in a dry area. I can't remember if I used 1 or 2 bags of cement per hole.

Thanks! Off to shop for supplies now
I have two sections of fence that are falling apart. and the post between them is now leaning a few inches from the ground (basically ready to fall over at the slightest provocation). Do I need a permit to replace these or any sections of already existing fence? I looked online and don't see info about replacing like for like... Also, separately, if I want to put up two posts to create a place to put a hammock or swing, do I need a permit for that? I think I would need to put some footing with some cement, or dig a really deep hole for that. I have the idea in my head and want to work on this tomorrow, as I will be away the next few weekends, so if anyone knows this info before this weekend is over, I'd appreciate it!
