Failure to communicate

Curious as to why Village Hall offices and DPW were shut and empty early this afternoon, I called SOPD. I asked if today is a Village holiday. "No, not really. The whole town shut down at 1P today for an event for the employees."

I wonder - did the Village intend to notify residents of this in advance? If so - who's responsible? If not - why not?

Oh, c'mon, did you really expect the town to send out an emergency alert that they were closing three hours early for a holiday party?

The original post answers your question.

The more relevant question is why were the public employees partying on the taxpayers' dime.

There's nothing wrong with it at all, Scrooge. These folks work hard all year. Consider it a small investment in employee morale.

I doubt they were partying on your dime. Time, yes, dime, I doubt.

Office parties happen. It's hard to get a bunch of cow-orkers together after hours, and even harder to compel them to get together after hours.

Cow-orkers isn't funny anymore, Tom. Give it a rest.

Do the cow workers engage in cow tipping?

I wasn't joking. It's just how I spell that word.

If I have to choose between silly (and possibly overused) jokes, or outright nastiness, I'll take the silly jokes any day of the week.
