Explosion Times Square/Port Authority area - Some Transit is shut down.

Not many details yet. I hope no one is injured.

Person In Custody Following Explosion At Port Authority Bus Terminal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — One person is in custody after an improvised pipe bomb exploded during the morning rush Monday near the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

The device was apparently being carried by a suspect when it exploded prematurely. That suspect was injured and is in custody.

The suspect has only been identified as a man in his 20s, possibly from Brooklyn, CBS2’s Reena Roy reported. Sources close to the investigation said the suspect had a second device on him, CBS2 reported. The suspect apparently suffered a laceration to his thigh in the blast.

Several injuries reported now.  :-(.   tv news said both port authority and penn station closed!  Can’t verify from N.J. Transit web site 

They are saying he is a 27 year old Bangladesh National living in Brooklyn.  He built the bomb at his job which was at some type of electrical business. And he was Isis inspired.  This according to what he has told the police.

I just walked out of Penn Station at about 9am. It was open and business as usual there.

I did hear that PA and Times Square subway stations were closed, so maybe Times Square morphed into Penn Station in a report.

Reports currently say it was in the subway walking tunnel between Times Square and Port Authority.

Remember all the big talk about banning "bump stocks" after the largest (Las Vegas) mass shooting in modern history? They were just kidding.*  Just you wait. Attacks in NYC don't terrorize New Yorkers, they terrorize folks in Talibama and Kansas.

The fireworks loving street kid in me thought "It blew up on him and he only got injured?  What did he use, an M80?"

And of course - the President is using this event as an excuse for immigration reform.
