Driving to Baldwin LI on the day of the Belmont Stakes

I have a family party to attend this afternoon around 2ish... I am dreading driving today to LI the same day as the Belmont Stakes ... my regular route includes driving through staten island to the varazano bridge to the belt to the southern state.... Should I give up and take the train (s).. argh....
