Driving Instruction

My son just got his permit. Seeking recommendations for a good, local driving school/instructor. I did a search, but didn't come up with anything. Thanks.

Some years ago wife went to Silvernagel.  Has always had good things to say about her experience.

We used Don Tre for both of our kids and were very happy.

I will say that I have yet to see anyone post anything bad about any of the driving schools and most cost about the same for the mandatory 6-hour behind-the-wheel class.  But there are differences in what services they offer - especially with respect to the "options" beyond the mandatory class.  For example, Don Tre took care of practically ALL dealings with DMV and I heard from other parents that had to go to DMV themselves.  Also, for an extra fee, they had a service where they took the kids to take their tests.  On the trip to the test site, the driver/instructor reviewed the students in the car about what to expect and what they should and shouldn't do.  Also, I believe that service (or another one) included a one-session refresher lesson to be taken a week or two prior to the test date.  The money we spent on those extras were SOOOO worth it!

We used Aiskae Driving school last fall and were very happy with it.  Their website:  www.aiskae.com

I have had a terrible time with Pro-City and ultimately I just cancelled. Did not return phone calls, replied to about every third email. I finally thought we had it set up for the initial permitting and lesson, but he was a no-show. Called, got his answering service (again -- and it appears to be just an answering service so they can't really help) and was told he would call my cell within 10 minutes. An hour later, no call, so I just bailed and am back at square one. Very disappointing, he had several good reviews -- no idea why this was so difficult.
