Dems kick butt! Join the victory dance!

viva la resistance!

I will take measured steps. While I am pleased with the election results, I am not ready to do a full-blown end zone shuffle.

What do you think about this very early celebration, Mr. Wolf?

Let's enjoy this moment in the sun and the defensiveness of the "administration" in owning the losses; and also enjoy watching the Flynns get indicted.

I'm hoping for more ankle bracelets to be awarded to Trumpsters before New Year's Eve so there's more to celebrate and reflect on.

Another enjoyable event is the Rand Paul episode, wherein his crazy libertarian philosophy created property rights/regulations battles and ended in one less GOP Senate vote for the foreseeable future.

Is there a defense fund we can contribute to, in order to support the American hero who tackled his a$$?

I'm not ready to dance or call this "kicking butt" just yet. I am guardedly waiting to see if this has any effect on Republican members of Congress and their approach to Trump and his agenda. If this election is as significant a repudiation of Trumpism as it seems then hooray!

I will say my base emotional state seems to have improved. For the last year when I haven't had anything to distract me I have found myself in a pretty dejected and angry state. Yesterday was the first time in a while where that feeling has abated. So I'm not dancing but at least I'm off the bar stool and looking at the dance floor and thinking about it.

Just for fun. Not clucking.

This doesn't really help our cause. JMO

No fan of Rand Paul by any means but what his neighbor did is pretty f-cked up and certainly no "American hero".

Also, speaking as a guy who simply cracked a rib once, -it is really painful. I can't imagine having 5 ribs broken, blind-sided by some nut job while minding my own business, on my own property cutting the lawn.

I too am not dancing just yet.  I don't think there were many surprises on Tuesday.  Had we lost them I would have been very disappointed.

I will wait till the mid-terms and see how the party unifies and puts forth a real message before I start dancing.

While the Virginia and NJ races weren't too much of a surprise (though the margin in VA was kind of surprising and heartening), I think there was much more success in down-ballot races than anyone expected, and that's quite important. Dems finally made some inroads in gaining representation at the state and local levels, after years of getting their own butts kicked.

Sure, who knows what's going to happen in a year - but at least this election was in the right direction, and far more favorable than we might have expected a year ago.

It's worth a dance if you ask me.

Hey, lemme enjoy myself here. Can’t imagine my comment affecting anything or anyone. Best part: local GOPer calls attacker a perfect neighbor.

Jim Skaggs, a local Republican official who developed the gated community, told the Louisville Courier Journal earlier this week that the men have bickered over lawn trimmings in the past. He described Boucher as a “near-perfect” neighbor, but said the libertarian senator “was probably the hardest person to encourage to follow the (home owner’s association regulations) of anyone out here because he has a strong belief in property rights.”

On a serious note, agree with dB that downballot results were more impressive.

Yes but overplaying these wins could lead to a false sense of security resulting in a poor showing at the polls next year.

We don't need a repeat because people assume the victories are a slam dunk just because we won some seats this round.  It may also encourage the right to come out stronger to prove this was not a referendum on Trump.

All I am saying is that while it was a good thing lets not overplay it.   We are far from where we need to be both in elections and message.

I will celebrate more if/when Roy Moore gets defeated - this is the type of rhetoric we need a victory over.

So you are cheerful about the fact that someone, whose political views you find disagreeable, was beaten up and injured in a blindside attack?

Oh please. Laugh it off.

So you are cheerful about a fictional character who had sex with his mom and killed her? Way to represent.

I chose an innocuous silent film star.

Personally I’m not cheerful about this. But if it’s really true that the roots of this dispute were in the fact that Paul thinks his property rights trump the responsibility to be a good neighbor, I think it’s noteworthy. There seems to me a strain of modern libertarianism that doesn’t recognize the boundary between what they feel like doing, and when their actions are infringing on others. Libertarianism isn’t supposed to mean doing whatever one wants.

Or none of that is true and some nut job beat him up...

Here's a guy who wants the benefits of living in a gated community and then claiming (maybe now and definitely in the past) his "property rights." Rand is trying to steer the fuss away from his grounds ("I've been trying to sell my house for 10 years!" yells his neighbor) to avoid libertarian embarrassment.

I repeat. Here's yer bottom line on this.

Hey Norman Bates, I find this story very satisfying too.

Probably not. Voters in Alabama are like "sure be may be a pedophile, but he definitely isn't a Democrat."

as little faith that I have in Alabama voters, I'm thinking this may do him in. Apparently there are 3 people alleging similar encounters.

has everyone at least watched the OP video? I think it's awesome. To get the full effect you have to imagine some favorite Dem (Bernie!) as the lead dancer.

eta: especially at 36 seconds in

yes, I know Bernie is an IND. play along.

well, yes, I definitely don't think we should he doing that yet.

Interesting that you'd also find a story about a young girl being sexually assaulted satisfying.
