Defcon SWEEPS awards at NYC Hot Sauce Expo

It was a banner day on Saturday at at the 3rd Annual Hot Sauce Expo in Brooklyn this past weekend. Our wing sauces SWEPT 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place! This is the first time in the history of these awards that a single company has swept any category. With judges like Chris Santos from the Food Network, and various VP's from magazines like Bon Appetit, the high level of judging makes this is more awesome!

Just in awe of all you've accomplished in a relatively short time. WELL DONE!  *wild cheering emoticon*

An all Cobra Kai Final! Nice

Good job, great news, great products!

Congratulations.  That is great!

Thanks everybody. It was one Hell of a weekend. We also found out we were picked up by the Zac Brown Band, so our stuff will be on their tour buses as well.

Killer! I gotta grab some more sauce soon. Where on the spice-o-meter does the Cluckwork Orange fall?

Float like a butterfly, sting like a  (pick one):

                                                             1) bee

                                                             2) thistle

The Cluckwing Orange is a mix of Cayenne, Orange Habanero, Peri-Peri, and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers. It's got a very healthy kick, and it creeps up on you (we put the delay in there on purpose). Now, the brand new release we unveiled this weekend, The Curbstomp, has all of those with the added pleasure of the current hottest pepper in the world, The Carolina Reaper. Both taste awesome on wings, but try them in chili!

Bee & Thistle, Wine Library, Church's Kitchen & Kitchen a la Mode (I think, they haven't placed an order in a while), and of course on-line.

Congratulations !!!

And I'll add, being a happy Defcon 1 and 2 user, well deserved.

Hey, this is some serious coolness! Congrats, Deffie!!

Thanks! Y'know, it's been a LOT of hard work over the past 10+ years, but things are beginning to link up nicely. Being in all 50 states and 32 countries has something to say for itself, however, the fact that myself and the Awesome Wife Unit, Maggie, still have regular jobs as well speaks volumes. Oh, just for the record, I also turned 50 Sunday, after the show this weekend, 20+ of us hit up the Amber Steakhouse on Nassau for dinner and then to the Radegast Hall & Biergarten for a few liters, and then closing out the evening at Duffs Brooklyn for some good 'ol thrash metal until about 4am.

And as a closer, I gave up smoking at midnight on Sunday. I would say it was quite an evening.

Oh yeah, and as an added bonus, we released the next generation of ZERO as well (only available online). For 8-9 years we used only Orange Habanero, but hey, for this release we upped it to the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. (Oh yeah, many people still think the Ghost (or properly the Naga Jolokia)) Pepper is the hottest. Sorry, the Ghost now ranks about 7th. The Trinidad Moruga is 2nd, only to the Carolina Reaper, created by my personal friend Ed Currie, an alchemical botanist and owner of Puckerbutt Peppers. That makes this release of ZERO that much more heinous. It was true bliss watching the testosterone-laden Knights, one by one, turn into sub-squires all weekend long. Think you can do it? Don't brag about it, like most do, savor the pain, and enter a world of painful bliss.

Happy birthday last Sunday

Little shout out to Def-mom standing at the table!!   And happy birthday to you, you smart a$$, hot sauce creator, you!

Oh yeah, Mom & Dad did the show on Saturday with us last year. They had a ball. It was the first time they had seen us in action at one of the larger venues we do. They were amazed at the size of the crowds. As for being a smart *ss, absolutely! Life is too short to be timid. oh oh
