Dead animal on street in Maplewood, who to call?

I looked online and the only number given is for dead dogs or cats.  Who do I call about a deceased raccoon in the street. I won't go into detail, let's just say that in the July heat it needs to be gone yesterday.  Does animal control do that?  DPW?  The unlucky homeowner whose house this animal is in front of (though it is in the street and not on the property).  Is there an email option for this sort of notification or do I need to call during business hours.

You want to know whom to call.  MPD should be able to contact whoever is providing this service in Maplewood. In SO, SO Animal Control does this; contact is thru SOPD when the ACO is not in the office.

(editted to remove an "m" in the 2nd sentence)

St. Hubert's is in charge of animal control for Maplewood.  This is apparently one of the services they provide:  http://www.twp.maplewood.nj.us/DocumentCenter/View/2087

The link specifies dogs and cats, not animals in general.

I like the way this situation was handled in Toronto last summer: https://www.buzzfeed.com/craigsilverman/people-in-toronto-created-a-memorial-to-a-dead-raccoon-after?utm_term=.gwLq78KnNW#.vnVMAxj2Dl

That was funny.  I was briefly considering putt in a dog collar on him so St Huberts would do the clean up, however on further reflection I am not getting within ten feet of Bandit. It looks (and smells) like he's been there for more than a few days.

Call St. Huberts.  If they don't do this, they will know who does.

Three years ago we had a dead fawn in the brook of Washington Park. Someone came from the Dept of Health to remove it. Hope that helps.

eta: I just remembered that the person who came for the removal was called a Health Officer. Not sure if she was from the Dept of Health.

OMG, that made me laugh.

I remember that. It appealed to my twisted sense of humor.

I drove by and he has been picked up.  snake

whatever you do do not use the townships online system . I did and finally received a reply to my dead animal issue 10 days later.  The birds of prey took care of it long before any response and not without a few days of odorous disgustingness .

I clicked on the DOH email link on the town's website, but it wouldn't open another page, so instead I copied the email address and sent it directly from my email.  I don't know if they responded because of my email, or if someone else called because of the stench (when I took the kids for a walk we literally smelled it a good four houses away), but regardless it is gone so I am happy.

The town health officer regularly reads related threads on MOL.  Your posting to this thread may have been sufficient, though I would not rely on that in the future.

actually it was the email she wrote.    Posting here wouldn't have done it as no address was given
