Data Nerd Wants to Help You

Hello! My name is Andrew and my wife and I have lived in Maplewood for just over 1 year. I'm an amateur data scientist with knowledge of R, Excel, and some Python and I've done graduate work in forecasting, econometrics and statistics at Syracuse University and have passed Coursera classes in Data Analysis, Calculus, and Ordinary Differential Equations.

I want to help you visualize your data or solve an analytical problem using data. I have experience building a variety of statistical models to support economic and business analysis and can provide examples upon request.

If you have are interested in my assistance or working with me to tackle a tough data-based problem, reach out to me on this thread and we can get in touch.

Wishing you a happy autumn,

Andrew

Welcome to town. Here's one of the tough economic data-based problems we all have:

How can we maintain our current district budget within the budget cap over the next decade (or two or three), and also improve our infrastructure, salaries, services (etc.), to meet the needs of all our students, educators, and community members?

Ohh! Good question! I work in budgets as a profession. It would be interesting to collect some data on the town budget and understand the current way we do contracts, etc. to look for efficiencies.

Another data problem is figuring how M.O.L. can keep in business if people selling a service do not list their business in the paid, classified section. If a service is free, there is a free listing in the M.O.L. classified that works.

Though certainly no fault of the OP, the phrase "data scientist" makes me grit my teeth as my hair stands on edge.

grrrr

Andrew, my company has an opening for a data scientist position analyzing computer security related threat data, if you're looking for a full time gig PM me.
