cost of flight to paris in march

What do you think one could expect to pay for a nonstop flight to paris in march?  Looks really expensive now, but wondering if prices will go down closer to the date.

I'm wondering the same but thinking its going to be high (Spring in Paris).

I read somewhere recently that the best time to book fares is 90 days prior to your trip. You can also go onto Kyak and sign up for fare alerts. This way, you'll know what's going gone with the fares without logging in on a regular basis.

in general my European flights in the spring run between 800-1500, depending on destination. rarely fly to Paris. London is usually the least expensive for me, Geneva or Zurich is the high end. A quick check of United flights to Paris in March is about $950 which is what I would have expected.

I don't know what dates you are going, but a quick search with random dates in March nearly made my eyes pop out of my head.  Allowing for one stop cut the price by more than half.  With that much of a price difference I would take a long hard look at how important a non-stop flight is.

At some point between now and then you should be able to do better than $1k.

A couple of ideas:

Find a few flight options and set alerts on yapta.

Can u go from Philly or an airport other than Newark? Likely to be better than EWR.

Check prices during holiday weekends, slow business travel times--sometimes the airlines temporarily show low fares during those time frames.

Good luck!

I'd expect between $800 at the VERY low end and $1,000+ unless a special pops up somewhere.  Not sure I've ever travelled to Paris in Spring for <$1k (though depending on when in March and the timing of Easter you may likely not be in true "Springtime in Paris" mode yet).

On Google Flights, the cheapest ticket appears to be WOW airline, leaving from Newark with a 3 hour layover in Reykjavik.

Commentary on tv yesterday indicated lower prices are coming because of monetary unrest and lower flight loads between USA and Europe, notably UK.

Wait. I fly to Spain every year in September. I used to purchase my flights early. The last few years when I have looked at flights in April they have been on average near double of what I end up getting them about 90 days prior. For example, this year in Feb/March the flights were about $1200 per person. I got them a couple of weeks ago for $700. The same last year. In March they were about $1400 per person and ended up getting them for about $800 sometime in July. Set up an alert and wait for the 'sales'. Also check the local airlines rather than the US airlines. They typically have 'specials' that are much worth it and they have the best routes. I always check all airlines but best prices always appear to be with Iberia for the time I spend flying for my flights to Spain. Also consider flexible dates (3+/- days) for the dates you are looking for. There could be a significant difference if you do have that flexibility that is.

How is WOW?

WOW is supposed to be bare-bones: no meals (you have to buy it), no on-board entertainment, and crazy luggage fees.  I think the max you can carry-on for free is 11 lbs; if your carry-on is heavier than that, its $29.  And I think their checked luggage fee is $48.  But the people I know who have flown WOW, say its worth it for their low fares.

$48 round trip or per flight? We went on Continental or United or whatever their name is this week and the luggage fee was $50 for the round trip.

united to europe-no luggage fees for 1st bag ( up to 50lb)  I believe is still policy

Our last flight was to Florida. They charged for checked bags.

They also rationed out airsick bags. I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. Two of my kids got sick on the flight and when we asked for two fresh bags just in case they got sick again they gave us one. When my husband asked for a second one they handed him a trash bag instead. It will be a long time before I willingly fly with them again.

WOW charges $48 per guest, per flight leg.

Their carry-on fees are worse than I thought:

1 bag per guest: 0-11 lbs free, 11-15 lbs $38.99, over 15 pounds - see checked luggage fees.

I never said it was. I just said that the last time we flew we were charged $50 for our first bag. There used to be a time where your first checked bag was free. When I flew to Las Vegas (also not in Europe the last time I looked at a map) we were allowed one checked bag per ticket for no extra charge.

The Eiffel Tower and Venice are there. Good enough for me.

The Eiffel Tower isn't there anymore. Gru stole it.

I recently booked a flight to Paris over Thanksgiving.  We got tickets for $480 roundtrip!  We booked through the american airlines website (british airways operated flight), which flies from EWR to ORY.

Sign up for travel alerts on airfarewatchdog.  Flights dip in price weekly it seems.

Wow, that's a great price, and it's easier and faster to get into central Paris from Orly. (Or it used to be, when I flew there often.)

Yes, great price probably because its a less popular time to travel to Paris.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful.
