Can anyone recommend a computer tech person who will come to your house? Eric Harris is unavailable and can’t get through to Geek Squad. Thanks.
Can’t seem to get a lasting connection between my laptop and wireless printer. It worked yesterday and not today.
I've had a lot of success with many things looking up DIY fixes on Youtube. Sometimes the fix is simple.
Thanks. Working from home is not so easy for tech challenged people.
my wireless just won't work, easiest fix is to wire it and see if that works...you are just tethered by the wire whenever you need to print.
you could try changing the channels on your router...easiest to unplug router (i usually unplug everything else connected also..that seems to help). let it sit a few minutes and turn everything back on....it takes a few minutes for everything to reboot.
if that doesn't work, you log into your router (directions are easy to find online) and manually change the channel.
I believe the printer needs to be setup with a fixed (static) IP address.

Given Mom270 is a bit tech challenged, the other solution is just connect the printer directly to the computer by a USB or network cable (if she doesn't need to share it with others).
changing the channel on the router doesn't change the IP address.
sometimes there is interference or for some reason the channel just isn't strong. unplugging the router does a soft reset and that sometimes solves the problem without changing any settings. I had the connectivity issue with my ereader...suddenly it would not connect to the wifi...soft reset didnn't work, but changing the channel fixed it.
i never got my printer wifi working. but i don't print much and mostly use my laptop at the desk so the wire isn't an inconvenience. the printer wire is more square where it plugs into the printer and USB into the computer.
I've never tried it, but if you wire the printer to the router instead of the computer, that may allow you to use wifi to connect to the printer. I just haven't had the need to try it that way.

I've often described myself as a technotwit. We had a problem like this a couple of yrs ago. Problem was in printer. I just used an ethernet cable; installed different drivers from hPOS. Problem solved for several years.

If you turn your wireless printer off/on every day there is a good possibility that when the printer connects to the router again, it will acquire a different IP address than the one in your printer setup on your laptop. For chrome/windows this can be resolved by uninstalling the printer setup (it is also possible also to dig down into setups and change the IP address, most printers have a way in their setup menu to tell you what the IP address is) and reinstalling the printer. But, as noted, the easiest solution is get network cable (also known as CAT 6 and/or Ethernet cable) to connect to the printer.
