chimney liner

Hi Has anyone used the new owners of Village sweep to replace their chimney liner? Thanks

We haven't used them, but had this done 8 years ago. Its a fairly straightforward process running a new sleeve inside the existing one, unless you are planning to replace the ceramic tile with new.

Think they all charge about the same amount.  $1,800.

mine will cost 3600 because they have to blast out the clay liner in order to fit the stainless steel  otherwise he said it would be 2200...

Ouch.  Thought they just put the liner over the clay?  Or is it too small a hole?

yes  the opening is too small to be up to code with what is needed to exhaust the boiler

man, at that point I would direct vent the boiler through the wall.  I actually removed my chimney entirely.

If you've got steam, sidewall venting brings on its own problems.

What should I look for?  Mine has been fine for 7 years, despite some sloppy install work.

Only Burnham makes a steam boiler made to be power vented (exhaust fan) out a side wall and that adds a level of complexity, maintenance and operating costs to the boiler that really ought to make it a last resort.
