Carpenter for small job? archived

Jan 14, 2007 at 8:56am
Looking for a good carpenter to build some cabinetry in my den. Nothing to fancy but dont want to hire a GC or one of the local GC's since its a very small job. Approx. 4 foot area for custom cabinbetry and some shelves.

Any recommendations?
Like all of these guys, you have to see if they're willing to do a small job.

We've used Joe Lambert for miscellaneous carpentry (e.g., permanently installing ACs in the wall, flooring replacements, etc.) and were quite happy. But he's based in Matawan so you might want to check if he'll come up for a small job.

Call Dirk Wesner @ 908-892-2149 He works for me.

We don't have our web site up yet where it would give all our info but we do everything except roofing and large masonry.
We also do not do additions. But we do everything in the home within the footprint. Kitchens, bathrooms, basements,
carpentry, small plumbing and electrical, tiling, painting etc. We are not a franchise like Mr. Handyman or some others.
It is Rich and his helper all the time.

Careful.

Some people bid, start jobs, abandon.

Watch out.

deep,

are you speaking of anyone in particular?

Just out of curiosity, how much would something like that cost? I would love to have a bench built in my basement to hold the kids toys that could double as a seating area. It would be about ten feet long, three feet tall. Thanks!

redy67: to consider: paint-grade or nicer stained wood?

Ned at Bench Mark Interiors is a very charming guy. I haven't had the pleasure of hiring him yet.

Mr. George might be able to do this type of work. He has done it for us as a part of a larger project, and he is very meticulous. He is at 908-436-0315.

I too am looking for someone to do a small kitchen counter top job but I am confused about who to trust. Who can give a solid recommendation of someone who they trust? I need someone I can count on - regularly.

Well, that would certainly rule out my husband! (Just kidding! :winkoh oh

elizabethann, try the above recommended people.

Kevin Wallace is terrific. He does beautiful work and can do anything you need done. His number is 973-650-1739.

shanabana--details! You know I don't know. I am looking for something in our basement, so cheaper is better. (until I get Maplewood to lower my taxes :winkoh oh

Hey Red....my hubby said that 3ft tall can't be a seat, another MOL husband in the business cheese He thinks that you would have to make it no more than 24 inches.

I second Ned Lindsey at Bench Mark Interiors. Ned put up wood railings on our front steps. His work is impeccable. He can also do custom work.

(Full disclosure: he's NOT my husband)

Okay, I am REALLY bad with measurements. Yes 3 feet would be way too tall!
