bzzzzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzz - mosquito updates

Thought it was appropriate for you to catch up on the latest mosquito/anti-mosquito-bite research:

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0122716

It's hereditary, folks.  If they like you, it seems at this stage there's not much you can do to avoid being bit.

No-one's planning for spring/summer biting-insect onslaught? I thought someone would comment...

cheese

Mind you, it's not always easy in this new format to know when new material shows up on the Board.

To avoid being bitten, hang out with someone they like better!

Pretty much sums up the research! LOL

They also suggest you don't stand too close... And they explain why/how it works., why most of the repellents don't/can't work effectively. (They're trying to cover the wrong thing)

Wonder how much this costs?

Garlic and sugar water......

Sir Dave, the big problem with what's suggested in the link you've provided is that it takes 3days for mosquito larvae to get problem stage for urban situations. So their '3 weeks and we've done our job' suggestion won't really do the trick.

Follow afa's urging, empty any standing water, drain any boggy patches, encourage harmless native fauna and birds that feast on insects and read the research above.
