Blink Fitness coming to Valley Street?

According to today's Village Center Alliance email, Blink has signed a lease for space adjacent to the new Stop and Shop. I'm excited to hear it, as an inexpensive gym with cross privileges in Manhattan locations seems like a big win for us.

The email cites a Village Green article with more information (early 2016, in former A&P truck garage)

Super super SUPER exciting!! I hate driving all the way to Livingston just for a treadmill, but NYSC is one of the few that's both cheap and open late.

I am soooo of happy about this!

What about Colosseum?

Is the site that are talking about an actual existing building, or is it that empty blacktop space between Stop and Shop and Totri?

Looking at Google Maps, I think it must be an accessory building/garage way back behind CVS at the extreme end of the parking lot. I'd somehow always thought of it as the back of Gleasons, but was obviously off by a block or so.

Edit the original post and you should be able to change the category.

That used to be the case, but today I'm not offered the ability to edit either title or category (as if I weren't the OP)

I stand corrected - sorry about that.

You can edit the title, it is just difficult and no longer easy to get to. I haven't edited a catagory yet so I can't say for sure if you can edit that or not

Go to the discussion page that lists the title of each post. Find the title of the the post you started. You should see an edit link since you are the one who created the thread. Click on the edit link and you will see a box in which the category of the thread can be changed.

Fixed...very non-intuitive, but maybe I'll eventually remember

NYSC is actually cheaper now (aside from the Groupon). But also, since I am going late at night I'm not really comfortable with the location. I know, I know, I'm sure it's fine but it just makes me a little uneasy. It's actually the same reason I go a few minutes farther to NYSC Livingston instead of NYSC Springfield, because the Springfield entrance is in a weird alley.

Is Blink more of a barbell or machine gym?

More machines than barbells

Does Blink have showers?

The NYC Blinks have locker rooms and showers. I did a one day trial - plenty of cardio equipment but not the best weight equipment. Locker rooms were small but clean. They do not provide any towels or locks.

This article says they don't open for another year. That's a long duration for a renovation.

If it's a former truck garage, I wonder if some of that time is allocated to environmental issues. They can consume quite a bit of time during which it makes no sense to invest in case they cannot be dealt with in an affordable manner.

Would they really go through an expensive environmental clean-up? Its not like South Orange lacks empty spaces that don't have environmental issues.

Someone has to. That parcel is probably still part of the bankruptcy process so the bill would go to a&p.

Also - where are the empty large commercial spaces with free parking in south orange?

So, Blink seems to have opened a sales office, but I haven't seen much activity at the location (adjacent to the newly paved Stop and Shop parking lot).  I was beginning to wonder.

where's the sales office?

Noticed that they black top on the top of the building is being broken up. Also, a blank building permit is in the window down below. I'm nosy...

There's definitely construction going on there, but where did you see a sales office?

I drove by it today.  If memory serves me right, the sales office is really close to the Walia Ethiopian Restaurant right on Village Plaza.
